Chanel Sweet Star is my first ever Limited Edition Chanel Nail Polish, purchased due to my intrigue about Fashion Night Out and the crazy lengths people go to just for a limited edition nail polish! I read about this polish on a few blogs but set it out of my mind because I didn’t want to pay above regular Chanel prices. A couple weeks later, Chanel.com sent me an email saying that this nail polish was available on their website for $27. Pretty good deal for a limited edition! So I bought it of course. 🙂
Sweet Star is a very interesting shade. I’ve been wearing it for a few days now and I am constantly mesmerized by its ability to pick up the reflection of whatever is close to my nails. Its really amazing, I’ve never owned a nail polish that has this unique quality. It reminds me of Seurat, my favorite impressionist painter, I am fascinated by the marriage of science and art. To me, Sweet Star mimics that with its beautiful color and its unique reflective technology. The polish is certainly metallic, depending on what light you are in, it leans silver, green, purple and blue with multi-color shimmer particles adding to its dimension.
This shade also reminds me of the mineral Alexandrite, a very rare and beautiful mineral found in Russia that naturally turns different colors in different light. I wonder what inspiration Chanel used in making this polish!
Now lets talk application. The applicator was small and precise, very easy to apply. In fact, I don’t think I made a mistake which is rare for me. Very pleased. This polish does leave brush strokes when you are applying the product but I found that they faded a lot after the polish dried a bit.
Although pictures cannot do it justice, I hope the two pictures below illustrate how different Sweet Star can look in different light. The first photo is a picture with no flash, and the second photo was taken with flash. You can really see the multi-colored shimmer in the flash picture.
I am very pleased with this nail polish. Lately I’ve found that the items I’m least excited about have become my favorites, notably Tom Ford Platinum Cream Eyeshadow.
Have you tried Sweet Star? Do you buy into the Limited Edition hard-to-get items or do you pass them by? I definitely think I made a good purchase as it was regular price and I’ve had a few compliments on my nails. Always good!
Have a great day! 🙂
