Make Up For Ever Studio CaseThe Make Up For Ever Studio Case is a Limited Edition Holiday 2014 release exclusive to Sephora. While they were having their 20% off sale, I picked this up due to some really great reviews on their website and on some beauty blogs.

Make Up For Ever Studio Case OpenThe set has 12 mini eyeshadows and a full size eyeliner. The eyeshadows can also be removed from the case and there is a large area underneath to store other makeup items such as brushes, mascara, powder, etc. Really good for travel!

Make Up For Ever Studio Case CloseupThe quality of these eyeshadows is really good, very creamy when I swatched them, and virtually no fall out apart from the black matte shade, M-100. The shadows are divided into 4 different “looks”. From left to right, Natural, Smoky, Bold, and Chic. I decided to follow their lead and do the 4 different looks. Some look good, some don’t, but on the whole I was pleased with the quality of the eyeshadows and the pigmentation.

Look 1: Natural (M-530, S-516 & I-544)

This is my favorite of the 4 looks, entirely because I love natural looks. My fair skin doesn’t lend itself to garishly bright colors sometimes. So this one was right up my alley. I used M-530 to prime my lids, then S-516 on the lids, then I-544 in the crease and outer corner. The eyeliner is MAC Bountiful Brown from the Sharon Osborne Collection.

This look was my least favorite, I found the matte shade M-100 to be very patchy. I used the eyeliner that came with the set, M-10, blended out on the upper and lower lashline. I also used it on the upper and lower waterlines. Then I used M-100 (matte black) all over my lid and lower lashline, then ME-108 (silver) above the crease, and ME-122 (white) in the inner corner. Unfortunately, the inner corner highlight ruined the look in my opinion. Since my eyes are slightly hooded, reflective metallic shades like ME-122 and ME-108 just do not work on my eye shape or my skintone. This look is very out of my comfort zone!

Look 3: Bold

This was my second favorite out of the 4 looks. I really love these colors and the finish is really beautiful. I didn’t experience any fall-out either which is pretty rare for eyeshadows with so many shimmer particles. I used I-218 all over the lid, D-236 all along the lower lashline and D-926 in the inner corner.

Last but not least, the “Chic” look. I do giggle at these names sometimes. I still had on eyeliner from the Smoky look and I didn’t feel like taking it off my waterline so it looks a bit more intense than I would normally wear. I think these colors would look great when toned down a bit. For this look I used ME-828 all over the lid, D-826 in the crease and I-524 in the inner corner.

And the eyeliner, M-10 Black:

So there you have the 4 looks in the Make Up For Ever Studio Case! To recap, my favorites are the Natural and Bold looks. My favorite individual colors are S-516, I-544, I-218 and D-826. I also did not use any primer whatsoever in these looks, apart from using M-530 in the Natural look to prime my eyes. I find that these shadows, although of wonderful quality, need a primer. My eyelids aren’t particularly oily but the colors would pop a lot more and be less patchy if I used a primer.

In creating these 4 looks, I followed the directions in the booklet that accompanied this set. I don’t know why I insist upon doing this, because they always turn out kinda crappy, hence the Smoky and Chic looks. Next time I will go with what works for my eye shape!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Its snowing here in Texas, which is a very odd thing. I think I will go make some hot chocolate. Yum! 🙂
