Back to my lipstick obsession and to my most coveted one yet. Chanel’s gorgeous blue-toned fuchsia shade from their Spring 2015 Collection called La Romanesque. For the past couple months I’ve been trying to be judicious with my makeup purchases so I make myself wait to buy instead of making impulse purchases. After attempting to do this with La Romanesque, I must have talked about it enough that my husband bought it for me for Valentines Day! Yay!! He said it was sold out in our town and on the Chanel website, I think he ended up finding it at Neiman Marcus online. Very popular little thing!

I was first intrigued by the name of the lipstick, it brought back memories of art history class and trips to Europe. I expected something a little more sober to reflect Romanesque architecture: more practical than flashy like Gothic architecture. Am I being too cerebral here? Anyway this lipstick is not practical in its color but in terms of wearability and longevity, it most definitely is!

The packaging is also really fun, the lipstick lives in the little black tube pictured above, and you have to press on the gold part to release the lipstick. Fun! The lipstick in the tube is a gorgeous purple fuchsia, but when I swatched it, I was surprised to see that the shade is more of a cool toned fuchsia pink, the purple sort of melted away. Not a bad thing because its a GORGEOUS color.

Chanel La Romanesque Wrist Swatch At this point I was in a rush to go to dinner with my husband, sans baby which is a rare thing, so I just slapped on some makeup and put on La Romanesque and went out the door. Here is the photo, I am wearing Armani Luminous Silk in 3.75, MAC Concealer in NW15 under the eyes, Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrow Pencil in Caramel, Urban Decay Naked and Buck in the crease and lower lashline, Almay Liquid Liner in Raisin Quartz, MAC Extended Play Mascara, Tom Ford Softcore for blush and highlighter and of course, La Romanesque for the lips.

Chanel La Romanesque LipsWhile testing it out at dinner, I was surprised to see that it actually creates a stain. My first impression was of how creamy this matte formulation was when you first apply it to your lips, it doesn’t feel drying at all. It never felt drying throughout dinner or afterwords, I did reapply once after we finished dinner just to intensify the color again.  I am kind of obsessed with this lipstick now to be honest. Its just amazing. The color, the longevity, pigmentation, doesn’t bleed at all, super easy to apply, and the creamy texture made it so easy to wear! I absolutely love it! I would choose these any day over the Tom Ford Lipsticks which are much more expensive at $50 a piece whilst these are $36. Everyone has their preference obviously and these are mine!

I hope you guys are having a wonderful weekend, ours not so much unfortunately. Our son has strep and the stomach flu, poor little guy. He’s on the mend now we hope and taking a nap, so I am writing this blog post to chill out while my husband naps on the couch. What an exciting life we lead! 🙂

See you next time for what is hopefully not a freaking lipstick post!
