The Dior Dreamskin Cushion Foundation wasn’t something I intended to purchase when I went to my local Dior counter last week. I was looking to repurchase my beloved Dior BB Cream, but on a whim I decided that I wanted to try something different. Since I’m getting older (35  now) I have different skin concerns and the SPF 50 in the Dreamskin really appealed to me. I also kinda, sorta, bought it really fast because the saleslady was giving me the hard sell. I KNOW.. it happens everytime and I should learn but I just can’t wait a week for Sephora to arrive. #firstworldproblems

Dior Dreamskin Cushion Foundation Box

The box is really large and weighty, which is a good thing since you are forking out $82! Its also nice that the box comes with a refill, giving you total product of 1 fluid ounce (30ml), the same as the Dior BB Cream.

Apparently there are wonderful skincare benefits as well as the increased SPF 50 that sorta justify the price. (I want my skin to look like a baby’s butt! I’ll pay anything!!!)

This is a typical cushion compact, similar to the Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation, reviewed here. You open the compact and there is a sponge, and a piece of plastic covering the actual foundation.

As you can see I use the shade 010. There were only 4 shades to choose from, Shades 010, 020, 030 and 040, but this shade blends into my skin perfectly. At first swatch though, I was terrified because it looked way too yellow and dark.

And for the ingredients junkie, here is a photo of the Active and Inactive Ingredients in this foundation.

I’ve used this foundation 4 times now, and I can truly say that I LOVE it. The finish is very sheer, very very sheer! So if you prefer medium or full coverage, this isn’t for you. It applies dewy but settles into a semi-matte coverage. I don’t know whats in this stuff but it makes my skin look REALLY good. I have combination skin and I tend to get oily on my forehead within a couple hours. One day I forgot to powder after applying the foundation and I never got oily in my forehead! This is magic I tell you!

I apply it using a BeautyBlender or a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I haven’t used the Dior sponge that comes with the foundation because those suckers are impossible to clean. The scent is very fresh and really nice. Here is an unfiltered photo of me wearing the Dreamskin foundation.

I was also wearing the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Porcelain Bisque and the Creamy Concealer Kit in Porcelain (I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS BTW!!), MAC Aphrodite’s Shell Bronzer, Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Light through my brows, Tom Ford Frantic Pink Blush, Wet N Wild Megaglo Highlighter in Precious Petals, Ciate x Chloe Morello Palette for eyes, YSL Faux Cils Mascara in Brown and Clinique Mod Pop Lipstick.

This is my new favorite foundation and if you are concerned with SPF, skincare benefits in your foundation, and don’t mind a sheer coverage then try this out and let me know what you think!!
